Luis Huerta

He obtained his Ph. D. in Physics at the Universidad Católica de Chile, in 1993, with a thesis in the field of strongly correlated electron systems. After that, he was appointed as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Estudios Científicos (CECS), Valdivia, Chile, in 1994-1997. His research interests are on gauge theories and statistical properties of quantum many body systems. He collaborates with the P4 group in theoretical issues. At present, he holds a position as Associate Professor at the Universidad de Talca, Chile, since 2006, and he is currently the Director of the Applied Sciences Department and a member of the Academic Committee of the Ph. D. Program in Applied Sciences. He was also Vicerrector of the Universidad de Talca. A significant part of Dr. Huerta’s career has been devoted to education. He was one of the creators and the scientific director of the Museo Interactivo MIM, at Santiago, Chile, an outstanding initiative on the diffusion of science and knowledge. He also collaborates with P4 in outreach activities.
